IMPORTANT INFORMATION
| |
 | As a safety precaution, LEADERS
HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE to take any person who, in their opinion, is not
properly equipped for the elements. |
 | Walkers must co-operate with the
leader, and must stay within sight and earshot of the group.
Walkers must not leave the group without informing the leader.
Anyone doing so automatically excludes them-selves from any liability by
the leader, the group, and the Ramblers Association. |
 | The leader may choose an
alternative walk at short notice – e.g. due to adverse weather conditions,
or unforeseen
circumstances. |
 | Membership of the Ramblers
Association gives automatic membership of a local group. RA members
are entitled to walk with any group nationwide. |
 | Non RA members are welcomed for
up to four walks. Thereafter they are expected to join the Ramblers
Association. Application forms are available from the Secretary. |
 | NO DOGS are allowed on walks. |
 | Warm clothing, stout footwear,
and waterproofs are advisable for all walks. Please bring enough
food and hot or cold drinks for your own needs for a full day. |
 | All sporting and
leisure activities have inherent hazards associated with them
and rambling is no exception. In spite of the safety of members
always being the paramount concern, accidents will occasionally occur. It
is important, therefore, that they have a responsibility to identify the
hazards associated with the activity and
take all reasonable steps to eliminate or minimise the potential for an
accident to arise. |
 | A first aid kit is carried by the
leader. |
|

| Aims and Activities of the Ramblers Association |
|
| The Ramblers Association exists to protect the interests of everyone who
enjoys walking in the countryside. Since 1935, it has promoted |
| rambling, protected footpaths, sought access to open country, encouraged
respect for the countryside, and defended its natural beauty. |
|
| Local groups of the Ramblers Association organise programmes of walks.
Additionally, the group watches over their local countryside, |
| monitoring the state of footpaths, and campaigning for more access to
the open countryside. |
